To keep yourself and your loved ones healthy! Did you know that regular chiropractic care has many more benefits than just “popping your neck back into place?”

Applied Kinesiology, or muscle testing, is a non-invasive way to help identify underlying issues as they manifest in muscular weakness.

Did you know that maintaining proper alignment can make pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery easier?

Did you know that even a “normal” birth can be somewhat traumatic for your baby? Getting them checked by a chiropractor can help them recover faster and transition to life outside the womb much easier.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

KINESIOLOGY TAPING

CUSTOM ORTHOTICS

MASSAGE THERAPY

A technique that releases tension and adhesions in the fascia. This technique can help with decreasing pain, increasing range of motion, and improving muscle function!

Have you seen professional athletes with Kinesiology taping on their bodies as they compete? It’s for good reason. Kinesiology taping helps aid injured, weak, or fatigued muscles and adds support for the joint.

Did you know that an imbalance in your feet can contribute to your low back pain? Or that a misalignment in your pelvis can cause a foot problem, like flattened arches?

Massage therapy can help with muscle aches and pains from all your activities and improve lymphatic flow and detoxing.

“Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a system that evaluates structural, chemical and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing combined with other standard methods of diagnosis. AK, a non-invasive system of evaluating body function that is unique in the healing arts, has become a dynamic movement in health care in its relatively short existence.

The combined terms “applied” and “kinesiology” describe the basis of this system, which is the use of manual muscle testing to evaluate body function through the dynamics of the musculoskeletal system. Treatments may involve specific joint manipulation or mobilization, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, meridian and acupuncture skills, clinical nutrition, dietary management, counseling skills, evaluating environmental irritants and various reflex procedures.”
(Definition from International College of Applied Kinesiology)

Applied Kinesiology operates on the basic principle that if you are experiencing internal issues in your body, you may also have an accompanying muscular weakness. Applied Kinesiology (AK), which is also referred to as Muscle Testing, is a technique with roots in ancient Chinese medicine. You can have organ dysfunction that manifests as musculoskeletal pain or vice versa. AK techniques help to test for and identify that weakness. AK is a valuable tool to help us get to the root of the problem and fix it.

Prenatal chiropractic care can help with low back pain, sciatica, heart-burn, pelvic pain, rib pain, carpal tunnel, and headaches.

Prenatal chiropractic care can help ease, correct, or even prevent many common ailments associated with pregnancy that are common, but that don’t have to be normal. Improving nerve function during pregnancy has been shown to make the labor and birthing process easier, and postpartum recovery faster.

Babies need to be checked after birth to ensure that they have no interferences in their nervous system during this time of huge growth and development!

Chiropractic care for babies can also help with torticollis, nursing and latching issues, colic and other digestive issues, sleeping issues, mood and disposition.

Fascia is a layer of connective tissue between the muscles and the skin. Ideally, the fascia is supposed to glide smoothly under the skin when muscles are activated. With injury or improper function, adhesions and/or scar tissue can form within the fascia which prevents it from gliding smoothly within the body. Myofascial Release tools and techniques help to remove those adhesions, break down scar tissue, and help the collagen fibers lay down in a more organized fashion in order to promote proper healing and improved function. This is a gentle technique that makes a big impact on the tissues below.

Kinesiology Taping can be beneficial to:

  • Reduce swelling
  • Improve lymphatic drainage
  • Improve circulation
  • Can be used to improve posture as well

So whether you are a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, you can be at the top of your game!

Here at WFC, we do a comprehensive exam and a scan of the feet to determine where your imbalances are and if you are a good candidate for custom orthotics. After we evaluate your scan, we talk about your options and then, when you are ready, we order a custom orthotic made specifically to your foot!

We have a wonderful massage therapist available in our office! She can do anything from deep tissue massage to a more gentle but still results-driven massage.

"I always leave the office feeling better: I’ve been going to chiropractors most of my life and have found a home with Ward Family Chiropractic. I find Dr. Ward’s mix of a "hands on" approach to the adjustments, along with the Activator very effective. The personal care is amazing, and Dr. Ward takes time to listen to you and treat you accordingly. She takes time to explain everything and answers all questions with a smile. Her background and knowledge, including reflexology, is impressive.

Flexible scheduling, on site massage therapist, and great staff are just a bonus. My overall health has improved greatly, and I would highly recommend Dr. Ward as I am a patient for life."

Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractic is, usually, a hands-on adjustment of the spine in order to correct a misalignment that is causing dysfunction. This dysfunction can manifest as pain, headaches, decreased range of motion, digestive issues, loss of muscle function, etc. When we remove the interference on the nervous system, through the adjustment, we restore proper function throughout the body.

Our joints build up pressure in the form of gas, and when we move, stretch, or get adjusted, the pressure is released as a popping sound. Think of it like a burp for your joints.

Usually, no, there shouldn’t be pain with an adjustment. However, if there are tight muscles in the area that needs to be adjusted, sometimes there can be discomfort for a moment, but should be relieved after the adjustment.

It depends. I know, I know - kind of a cheap answer, but hear me out. Everybody is different, everyone’s stress and ability to handle that stress is different, every patient is unique. So, it depends. Most people feel some level of relief after the first adjustment, and continue to feel better and better with continued care.

Yes and no. You can do whatever you want, whatever makes you comfortable. Chiropractic care is a great way to maintain those good results you feel after your initial care plan, to keep your nervous system tuned up and functioning properly. Chiropractic care can help keep you mobile, keep pain at bay, so you can experience the best life has to offer.

Absolutely! Chiropractic is a gentle, holistic treatment that works with the body to correct and restore proper function. Chiropractic is especially important for kids because so much development is happening in those early years…and think of all the tumbles, falls, and everyday play that happens! Kids get a little beat up too, so let’s get them taken care of, too!
